Wendy Mason
Critical Care Educator & RN, Critical Care Unit, Southland Hospital, Invercargill, NZ
After moving down South and commencing study, I graduated in 2005 with my Bachelor of Nursing. Since then I have continued to grow in my nursing career. I have spent the last 14 years working in the Critical Care Unit at Southland Hospital. I initially worked in the unit as an RN gaining experience before completing my Certificate in Critical Care, followed by my Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing and am about to embark on my Masters journey.
In 2021 I developed and ran the COVID Surge Response Training within Southland, teaching non-unit nurses and Health Care Assistants to assist and work in CCU. I then stepped into the Critical Care Educator role and have been working as part of the Senior Leadership Team in Southland CCU. I have a passion for supporting our smaller Critical Care Unit along with delivering care to the wider Southland community. All of The AboveEncompasses the four topics- Workforce, Transport/Transfer, Out of Hours Care and Infrastructure from a unique Southland Critical Care perspective.
