Dr Michelle Downie

Tauranga Hospital, Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty, Te Whatu Ora, NZ

Michelle completed training and started work as a General Physician & Endocrinologist in Wellington initially before moving to Southland. After nearly 10 years in Southland, she has recently moved to Tauranga to continue working in both General Medicine & Endocrinology in equal parts.  ​

Michelle served on the IMSANZ council for 7 years, and was elected to the IMSANZ Board of Directors in September 2020. She is the current Vice President of IMSANZ. She has been on and chaired the NZ Advanced Training Committee for General & Acute Care Medicine for 9 years. She is currently in her second term on the RACP Aotearoa Adult Medicine Education Committee, and has been an active member of the Item Writing panel for the RACP written examination for the past 6 years. She represents IMSANZ on the RACP Aotearoa Adult Medicine Division Committee also. She also served on the NZZSD Executive for several years until 2021, most of which was spent as treasurer.
