Michael Sutton

Associated Charge Nurse Manager, Dunedin Hospital, NZ

I am an Associated Charge Nurse Manager in Dunedin's Te puna wai ora / Southern Critical Care. My nusing background includes surgical nursing in Melbourne before returning home to Dunedin to continue surgical nursing and HDU surgical nursing for a further two years. I made the move to Intensive Care in 2014 where I have worked since.

Meeting The Challenges of On-Boarding Multiple Team Members From Multiple Cultural Backgrounds

In order to meet the challenges of on-boarding multiple team members from multiple cultural backgrounds, we must take the time to understand, take interest in, and accommodate the cultures from which those people originate. We must be open to other ways of doing things, understand the challenges new team members face when moving to a new workplace and joining a new team, as well as understanding our own culture and how this affects them too.
