Dr Sharon Payne

Nurse Practitioner, Hawkes Bay DHB, Hastings, NZ

I am a Nurse Practitioner working in the Emergency Department. I have a special interest in the assessment  care of children and their families. I also do a little work in primary health.  I enjoy teaching APLS, Paediatric Emergency Core course along with a number of other acute care courses. I have received  the Australasian Emergency nurses Award and a Queens Service Medal for services to nursing. But really I am just an acute care nurse with a passion to provide excellent care to children and families.

I’ve Got That Feeling

Recognizing a sick or deteriorating child can be challenging. The signs and symptoms are often very subtle. So how do we confidently recognise that child?  Is it experience, assessment or just  "I've got that feeling".
