Climate Change and Health Equity in Aotearoa-New Zealand
The greatest adverse health impacts of climate change are falling on communities who already suffer health disadvantages, and who have contributed the least to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. For Māori in Aotearoa-New Zealand, climate change will intensify the inequitable burden of ill-health that has resulted from colonisation. This talk outlines climate change-health inequities, and discusses ideas for how practitioners and health organisations can align their climate and sustainability action with the achievement of health equity.
